dogmatic teachings on perfection of these holiness movements is generally denoted as “perfectionism”.9 It naturally belongs to one of the major tasks of the dissertation to define theologically the constitutive elements or characteristics of “perfectionism”. This task, however, can only be fulfilled when the positive theological characteristics of Biblical perfection have first been defined, since perfectionism by definition denotes the deterioration and deformation of Biblical or Christian perfection.
